Figuring Out If You Will Go Through Menopause Prematurely

  1. One in ten women will go through menopause before the age of 45
  2. Menopause prior to the age of 45 is called ‘early menopause’
  3. Menopause prior to age 40 is called premature menopause
  4. Menopause can be originated from removal of the ovaries, however forms of menopause can be from failure of the function of the ovary, or a failure of the brain mechanism that controls the menstrual cycle from the hypothalamus, the pituitary, or the higher brain centers
  5. If you haven’t gotten pregnant by the time you are inching your way towards menopause you will be much less fertile than others your same age, so knowing this aspect of your natural ‘biological clock’ is important
  6. Many factors have to do with when you will enter menopause, and you should try to figure out where you are on your reproductive time line for maximum health.
  7. Early natural menopause may increase risk of cardiovascular disease and other chronic conditions.
  8. Predicting early menopause is hard.
  9. A new study looks at levels of inflammation in your body, and those with the highest levels of inflammation are most likely to become menopausal early.
