Emergency Contraception

IUDs can be used for emergency contraception for those who realize they were not protected from pregnancy during an episode of intercourse.

Both the Copper IUD and the Levonorgestral IUDs would work for this.

Liletta is the medicated device that has been studied the most, but Mirena IUD insertion should work as well.

Oral contraceptive pills, as well as the Emergency Contraceptive Plan B can work for this as well.

Very few women cannot use one of these methods.

For the best health during pregnancy, planning your pregnancy is still an excellent strategy going forward, we welcome new clients at Women’s Health Practice.
