Staying Young and Keeping the Vaginal Tissue Healthy

Like aging in other parts of our body all life style factors are a factor.

For women who have had tears with birthing, or chronic constipation, or smoking, chronic malnutrition due to lack of certain vitamins, yoyo dieting or other nutritional deficiencies, their tissues will not be as healthy in the vulva, the urethra, or the vagina.

We have a condition called GUSM standing for the Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause, because the hormone lack is what the focus is. And hormones can go a long way to repairing the conditions of vaginal dryness, urinary frequency and urgency, painful sex, and the other symptoms which go along with this.

But there is also a GUSA, a Genitourinary Syndrome of Aging. And that is due to the other issues we have mentioned that factor in aging. The aging factors of total body inflammation, cell repair, your genetic ability to keep your pelvic floor healthy, maybe even the consequences of years of avoiding pelvic floor exercising (have you done your Kegel’s today?), all will determine the, for lack of a better term, how youthful your vaginal tissues are.

There are ways to eat better, avoid smoke inhalation of any kind, but pelvic floor therapies done at home or with us are specifically designed to help GSUA.
