The Odd thing About Atmospheric Changes : Common and Uncommon Causes of Abdominal Bloat

When we have lower abdominal swelling, we call it bloat, and attribute it to excess gas, but it’s often not gas at all.

It’s most often chronic constipation that can be caused by dozens of medical conditions, but often as not is due to dietary strategies that can be altered.

The majority of people with bloat have slow colonic transit. So their function is relatively normal when not eating, or a very small meal, but no ability to increase the movement of the colon when eating, so that the food just moves more slowly through the bowel, causing distention and discomfort until it moves through.

Other causes of food movement slowing through the bowel, that are less common, can be due to medications, inflammatory conditions of the bowel, or due to the presence of a mass blocking food passage.

The weaker your muscles are, the less able you are to hold in some mild distention. That’s where core workouts and Emsculpt come in handy!

Gas itself is the cause of some cases of bloat and causes range from the simple to the extraordinary! The list of causes when the bloat is excessive air is fairly extensive including: air swallowing, increased gas from nutrients that are not absorbed properly , slow passage of gas due to obstruction, or expansion of gas due to changes in atmospheric pressure ! So next time you can’t tag a reason, look up the barometric pressure and let us know what you find out!
