If you spontaneously or can express fluid from one of your nipples we suggest you see your gyno. Breast discharge, when you are not breastfeeding is considered a medical condition, but after breastfeeding women physiologically should no longer have any discharge. So even if you once breastfed a baby, don’t assume persistent discharge is normal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The color of the discharge does not exactly tell you a diagnosis nor confirm whether it is a serious condition or not. Milk for baby is very yellow the first few days, but then it literally looks a milky white. Abnormal breast discharges, even for non-cancerous conditions can appear to be any number of colors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Check immediately if the discharge is bloody. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pain in the breast is more serious if it only is in one spot, not from a bruise or a specific trauma, and if it persists. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are treatments for milk discharge that doesn’t seem to go away, but it may be worth watching and not treating with medication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Your oral contraceptive pills or other medication may be causing this discharge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are tests that you should have if you find that you have discharge from one or both of your breasts. This may or may not have to include a mammogram. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
