{"id":2396,"date":"2020-11-10T00:37:49","date_gmt":"2020-11-10T00:37:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.womenshealthpractice.com\/?p=2396"},"modified":"2020-11-10T00:37:50","modified_gmt":"2020-11-10T00:37:50","slug":"pregnancy-brain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.womenshealthpractice.com\/?p=2396","title":{"rendered":"Pregnancy Brain"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>At the latest meeting of Current Psychiatry and the American Academy of Clinical Psychiatrists Dr. Henry Nasrallah presented research on brain changes due to pregnancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The structure and the physiology of the brain does change with pregnancy, the post partum transition, and the first 6 months after you have a baby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During pregnancy the size of the brain actually shrinks. After pregnancy the brain grows, for up to the first 6 months! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact throughout our lives brains are more plastic than we have thought in the past, affected by age, hormones, and other life phenomenon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In general it&#8217;s harder for a mom to concentrate in pregnancy. But other brain functions actually are heightened in pregnancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attachment, motivation, reward, fear, reaction to threats, are all improved in pregnancy.
