In menopause there is no more important time for individualization of management. Hormone testing, weight management, exercise guidance, and anti-aging treatments with effective nutrition and supplements.
There are a few effective choices for menopausal symptoms such as hot flash treatment, that don’t involve hormones, but we have mostly only modestly effective alternatives.
KNDy stans for : kisspeptin neurokinin B dynorphin compounds.
Menopause literally changes one’s brain. The hypothalamus of the brain which is part to of the control center gets a tangle of extra nerve cells called neurons and these overgrown nerves produce the KNDy compounds that include peptides and an opioid compound.
The theory is that too many of these KNDy compounds and seep over to temperature control center, which then causes hot flashes.
Three medications that can affect the KNKy production began in development, and two are in clinical trials now.
The research, which is progressing, and which Women’s Health Practice has been participating in, hopes to show that hot flashes and night sweat treatments will increase overall well being in menopause.
What is important to realize is that there are choices, and we’d like to consult and see how we can help.
