So Far No Symptoms of Long Covid are Gynecologic
Not all systemic illnesses attack every organ.
There are three main categories of symptoms and they include:
- respiratory symptoms
- musculoskeletal symptoms like muscle and joint pains
- gastroenteric symptom cluster: with abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea
Some hormonal issues do also cause some of those symptoms, including fatigue that is associated with COVID, but they generally present differently.
Some gynecologic issues present with some abdominal pain, but again, they usually have other symptoms that would be more tell tale of pelvic disease not a primarily respiratory problem.
If you have symptoms suggestive of long COVID, but never previously tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 infection, blood testing can be done to help confirm the diagnosis.
If you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or undergoing fertility treatments, COVID disease can affect your health and prognosis and should be a reason to consult your gynecologic or obstetric health provider.
